Beauty trends are never stagnant, with each passing year seeing new crazes sweep the nation. Young people become desperate to imitate what they view as trendy to avoid being seen as uncool or out of touch. As well as usually being vastly different from what came before, each new trend doesn’t seem to last too long before something fresher comes along to sweep it aside. The internet has only reinforced this, with new looks and styles able to reach an unrivalled amount of people in a very short space of time. Some beauty trends become iconic to the point of being synonymous with the decades in which they emerged. Heavy makeup showcasing bright colours was a staple of the 80s, whilst the early years of the new millennium saw a more natural look favoured. Despite previously being a target of mockery, there has been a newfound appreciation for freckles in recent times. Rather than covering them up, the latest beauty fad involves going to whichever means necessary to acquire the look of these natural beauty spots.
The trend began with using a simple brow pencil to imitate the look of natural freckles. However, this temporary look wasn’t satisfactory for everyone and the desire to look good has some people going to incredible lengths. Young people are now having freckles permanently tattooed on their faces in order to achieve a more consistent look that doesn’t take up so much time during the morning makeup routine. This is decidedly more radical than most trends that preceded it, which usually only involved a new way to dress or a different manner of applying makeup. Despite the extreme lengths young people are going to in order to have natural-looking freckles, many people have welcomed the sentiment behind it. What was previously considered an imperfection has become hugely desirable and an example of natural beauty. These tattoos are sure to stick around, so let’s hope this trend isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

The One Clothing Item You Need Most
It was a big deal in the '90s, but it has never gone out of style. What are we talking about? The little black dress, of course, or LBD, as it is known. It is the one piece of clothing that you can dress up or tone down for any occasion desired - a big work meeting? Throw a smart jacket over it and add some boots or court shoes. A wedding? Add some bling and maybe a faux fur cape, along with some sparkly pumps. Girl’s night out? Your leather jacket will look great with it. It is versatile, smart casual, and more dependable than any partner you’ve had. The right LBD will make you feel amazing. The fit should always show off your best assets, and then it will adapt to any of the occasions you need it to.
Check out any big star and you’ll have seen them rock an LBD - Swifty? Check. Britney Spears? Check. Dua Lipa - yes. These ladies ooze confidence when they are wearing their LBD. In fact, they probably have a few to pull out of their closet when required. You can too. Look through thrift and vintage stores and you’re bound to find an LBD that you know you can pull out of the closet any time you need it. Nicole Kidman recently sang that “Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend,” but actually it’s the LBD. While the LBD is versatile and made for any occasion (yes, even funerals - don oversized sunglasses to hide your tears, and a trench coat to honor the moment) don’t overdo it. Perhaps just wear it once a week, and don’t wear it with the same group of people twice in a row, just so you can extend its effect.
